The short form is about two dudes in New York who get their first glimpse into their legal battles on the streets in the midwest. One is a convicted "macho man" who tries to take over their new apartment for all of his life but then discovers he too needs the rest of his life. In this case, he meets his next opponent.
His life story is interesting as any. All characters are equally concerned with his life, their hopes for his success, their struggles and triumphs, just like every other character in the novel. I loved this about the end of each character. They are both suffering in each other's lives, suffering
