“I’m not a prude, I’ve had a few partners.”
Yuki thought to herself as she watched the man she had been chatting with for the last two hours.
Yuki was twenty-two, living in Japan, and was an otaku. Her life consisted of anime, manga, video games, and an endless pursuit of new nerdy stuff.
The man had suggested they meet up, and Yuki had been game. He was thirty-eight, a Japanese guy who spoke with a British accent. He looked like he could be a professor in his university office, and he seemed like he would be really fun to be with.
Yuki was nervous at first when she arrived at the bar he had suggested. She felt out of place with all the other people there, but the man was already waiting for her when she arrived.
“You look lovely tonight,” he said, giving her a hug.
She smiled and thanked him, her cheeks turning a little pink as he placed his hand on her lower back.
The man led her to a table, and they talked for a while. They had similar interests, and it didn’t take long for Yuki to feel comfortable with him.
As the night wore on, the man began to order more and more drinks for them. Yuki wasn’t drunk yet, but she felt comfortable enough to be drunk.
After a few hours of drinking and talking, Yuki felt the alcohol in her system begin to get to her.
She found herself laughing a lot more than usual, and the man began to tell stories about his time as a professor at Oxford. He had such a nice voice that it was hard not to listen to him.
After another hour or so of drinking and talking, the man finally began to flirt with her.
“I’m not a prude, I’ve had a few partners,” Yuki said with a laugh, trying to sound more confident than she felt.
She looked over at the man and saw that he had stopped talking. He was staring at her with an intensity that made her feel uncomfortable.
She leaned back in her chair and looked away from him for a moment before looking back at him with an apologetic smile.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that, I just meant that I know how to have fun.”
The man put his hand on hers and gave it a reassuring squeeze. “Don’t apologize; it was the perfect thing to say. I love that you’re not afraid of being honest with me.”
