BABES - Ava Courcelles teaching stepdaughter Megan Rain and Nick Ross a few weeks before their trip to Canada.

Nick, who lives in Seattle, told me he was at the airport after a family vacation to Ottawa, with his wife and four children.

That family vacation is over the summer - but they're still enjoying the weekend because Megan and Nick won't be spending the weekend outside of the family's home and their seven-year-old sister's home.

"They're still staying with (my brother) and their parents and they're still not leaving the house for good," Nick said. "They're fine, they're OK; this isn't their first trip overseas, but it's certainly coming along well."

While their vacation was a good experience for kids, both girls said it was hard not to come back.

"I think it's just really hard," Nick said. "It sucks just for them to be back here and see them and what all that means to them."

She said her parents spent the summer in Europe.

However, they can still be proud of their home.

"You know how that summer was. I remember it like it was, and we just had to be here, and what we needed to do was get on the plane. (But) it just wasn't about us."
