Meg's description of the book: This is the story of a girl named Erin who has a friend named Courtney. Erin's mom is sick, so she has to stay home with her. Her mom is a writer and tells Erin all about her life. It's not long before Erin starts imagining what it would be like to be in her mom's shoes. The two girls become friends through their shared imaginations and start writing stories together. They're not just writing stories, they're creating worlds that they can escape to whenever they want. Erin has always loved being creative and this is a dream come true. However, Courtney is always in trouble at school and Erin's mom gets really angry when she finds out that she's not doing the right thing. One day, Courtney decides to leave the world of Erin's imagination and go live in real life.
