Grande Jouissance (France 1980) Helene Shirley

259 views 1h 14m 49s
After her husband's death, Helene Shirley starts a diary. The entries document the frustrations of an upper-middle-class woman in France in the 1970s, where gender roles and expectations are still deeply rooted in a male-dominated society. In her daily journal, she records her sexual encounters, many of which are quite humorous. Helene also spends much of her time looking for happiness in various superficial purchases and leisure activities, but none of these make her feel any better. In the end, she is just trying to escape the loneliness of her life.
