Claire Roos, a freshman at her high school, is thrilled when she's asked to be a background actor in a commercial. She arrives early to the studio and watches the stars of the show, who are almost unrecognizable because of all the makeup they're wearing. The director asks Claire to do some of the same things, but to do them with a bit more spunk and a few more inches on her height. The director asks Claire to be a bit more flirtatious and a bit more adventurous. But, when the director asks Claire to kiss the lead actor, she's shocked and says no. This makes the director and everyone else in the room angry.
