After the death of his family, General Travis Travis takes a leave of absence from the military to raise his orphaned nephew, who has just turned 18. When Travis' sister-in-law, Claire, goes into labor, he agrees to be present for the birth. He is shocked to find out that Claire is the daughter of a powerful crime boss, so he leaves the hospital before the birth and heads back to the military. He is reassigned to an elite task force to help stop a notorious drug lord and rescue his kidnapped daughter. When Travis' team locates the drug lord's stronghold, they are confronted by a group of heavily armed men. Suddenly, they are attacked by a group of mercenaries and in the ensuing gunfight, Travis is mortally wounded. He is airlifted to a hospital and after a grueling surgery, he wakes up to find that his nephew is there with him. It turns out that Travis' nephew is not an orphan after all and that he is actually the son of the drug lord. Travis' brother-in-law had kidnapped him as a baby and raised him as his own son in order to protect him from his father's enemies. Travis has been wounded in the shootout, but not fatally, and he agrees to stay on as his nephew's protector and mentor.
